The presence of the compound psoralens in oranges is harmful to cats. The essential oils, mostly contained in the peels or skin also lead to adverse effects if eaten, inhaled or applied topically.
Can oranges be poisonous to cats
The ASPCA mentions oranges to be toxic to cats resulting in diarrhea and vomiting or even severe symptoms of lethargy, depression or skin ailments if consumed in excessive amounts.
